Thurisaz, or thurs (giant), or thorn is another rune of the futhark. It is possible that this rune may have derived from the Latin or Rhaetic alphabet, as it bears simularities tothe letter D or Θ. It means giant in the norse and germanic language. The thorn is likely a metaphor for giant, as it translates to giant towards other germanic languages AND three different poems talk about the giant. Norwegian, Icelandic, and Scandinavian for example. Also the rune ᚦ Thurisaz gives the "th-" sound.
Some say ᚦurisaz links to ᚦhor, ᚦe god of ᚦunder, as it resembles a hammer. If ᚦat is ᚦe case, ᚦe rune could mean protection as ᚦor himself is known to protect Asgard and Midgard. When facing upright, it could mean overcoming big challanges and obstacles. Maybe it indicates your ability to take on big projects. It could mean protection as well like I mentioned wiᚦ ᚦor. You've been protecting your families, friends, loved ones, or whomever from whatever may be lurking around. Usually someᚦing big.
When reversed, it could serve as a warning that someᚦing big is happening. Wheᚦer a big challenge, project, or someᚦing you can't handle yourself. It could also mean someᚦing beyond your control has happened and you're currently dwelling on it. Maybe you wished you handled someᚦing better. Maybe a deaᚦ of a loved one. My advice would be to honour ᚦose who passed but not to let ᚦem consume you. Be prepared for whatever is coming. Seek help if you need it, ᚦere is no shame in asking for help. Even if it ends up embarrasing, it does not define who you are as a person. Even a big embarrasement doesn't define you, it is not tattoed on your forehead.
